Hello Ladies and Gentlemen, As originally printed in Kingston This Week. Just a few short days ago Ontario Member of Provincial Parliament David Caplin decided not to wait to decide his political fate, as he stepped down as the Minister of Health prior to a jaw-dropping report by Ontarios Auditor General. The report depicted in black-and-white that massive amounts of the peoples money were awarded without the proper oversight from the government. In all some $1 billion of contracts were awarded through e-Health Ontario without so much of cough until opposition parties cried foul. This most recent scandal on the part of the Provincial Liberals speaks to a larger issue entirely, can this government be trusted. After this shameful abuse of taxpayers dollars, I think No. The worst part of this entire scandal is that the people are being punished both in their wallets and with the services that we come to expect for those tax-dollars. Many health care professionals have been laid off or lost through attrition on the front lines of services. Having now lost $1 billion and counting means all that money stays out of the hospitals, as they desperately need it to cover service costs. On a local level hospital boards and executives have all been fired or removed and budgets have all been extensively reviewed due to shortfalls, but the question should be asked why wasnt this kind of oversight happening at the provincial level as well?
